Atal Pedestrian Bridge / Kite Bridge Over The Sabarmati River

June 7, 2025

Inspired by the vibrant celebrations of Uttarayan, an annual kite festival, this pedestrian bridge gracefully spans the Sabarmati River in Ahmedabad. Adorned with colorful tensile fabrics shaped like kites, it captures the lively and festive spirit of the city. The bridge stretches 321 meters in length and consists of three spans, each measuring 100 meters. It serves as a link between the lower and upper promenades along the riverbank.

With a deck width ranging from 10 to 14 meters, the bridge offers pedestrians ample space to enjoy the picturesque views of the Sabarmati River. The landscaped deck features lush plantations, further enhancing the scenic experience. Constructed using approximately 2,100 metric tonnes of structural steel pipes, the truss design of the bridge resembles elegant arches.

To elevate its aesthetic appeal, the bridge incorporates specialized dynamic LED lighting. This lighting arrangement enhances the overall beauty of the bridge, creating a captivating nighttime display.
