Bridge of Music (Kumar Gandharva Bridge)

June 5, 2025

The newly constructed bridge at Sambhaji Park metro station serves as a vital link, connecting the West End’s elevated walkway to Sambhaji Metro Station and the East End’s riverside Chandrashekhar Agashe road. With its dual span and asymmetrical design, this bridge gracefully spans over the Mutha River, establishing crucial connections within the local community and the upcoming rapid transit system.

Drawing inspiration from the shape of a traditional Tanpura musical instrument, the robust details of the 170-meter span bridge exude elegance. A prominent feature of the bridge is the 67.5-meter tall vertical concrete pylon, which proudly stands as a significant landmark on Pune’s city skyline.

The bridge deck is suspended from the asymmetrical pylon using steel cables and connectors, creating a captivating visual contrast to the graceful form of a Tanpura. To enhance its visibility and aesthetics, the bridge is adorned with LED lighting that illuminates the structure during nighttime, making it a striking sight for all to behold throughout the city.
