Rajiv Gandhi International Airport

October 21, 2025

The sleek new Hyderabad Airport, India’s first private airport, was conceived as part of the CAS consortium (COVI-AVIAPLAN-STUP). With a LEED rating for its green design, the airport aims to provide a customer-friendly ambience, minimal queuing time, and a spacious duty-free area. The design prioritizes visibility and visual connectivity throughout the airport.

The project involved creating a master plan for a 40 million capacity Airport Complex. This included designing the passenger terminal building, cargo and logistics complex, air traffic control tower, maintenance facilities, and both airside and landside development spanning 21 sq.km of land. Hyderabad International Airport is the country’s premier PPP Airport.

Innovative features of the airport include a component-based flexible floor plan that can adapt to the changing business plans of the developer and airline industry. Additionally, an Airport Village offers a comfortable shaded atmosphere for visitors. The airport’s signature features are its flowing roof and temple leaf skylight, contributing to the unique ambiance of India’s first contemporary privately financed airport.
